Computer-Aided Modeling - EASE

Imagine investing in a sound reinforcement system that you can actually hear before it has even been installed. Imagine the ability to try out different professional-grade speaker systems within your system before its final design has been completed. And finally, imagine the assurance that the sound reinforcement system design in which you are investing will function according to your needs.

These and much more are accomplished through a complex computer-aided-modeling tool utilized by the engineers at R & D Industries. Our engineers are equipped with EASE (Electro-Acoustical Simulation for Engineers), a tool which allows them to accurately predict the acoustical outcome of a space or sound system prior to construction.

EASE is an industry-standard acoustics software package which brings together all the major professional-grade speaker manufacturers into one database. EASE gives our engineers the ability to virtually test different speaker and layout combinations in any room.

EASE further allows the ability to do real-time auralization, a process which allows clients to "sit" in the virtual model and listen to the sound system inside a particular acoustical space to determine performance.

Through EASE, our engineers can further determine:

  • Direct sound pressure levels
  • Total sound pressure levels
  • Loudness predictions
  • ALCONS speech intelligibility predictions
  • RASTI speech intelligibility index
  • Clarity predictions
  • Direct-to-reverberant ratios
  • Initial time delay gap
  • Much, much more

A true benefit of our approach, however, is that it allows you to compare loudspeaker Model X against loudspeaker Model Y, and predict each loudspeaker's performance at any location in an acoustical space. This ensures the right type of speakers for the job, regardless of brand, and it allows our engineers to verify the viability of different types of sound systems (e.g. distributed loud speaker system vs. a single-source or central cluster design).

The benefits of utilizing EASE to benefit our clients are many, but it is simply a tool. The combined 80 years of experience among our engineers is the key to maximizing the benefits of this tool for our clients.
